This pattern design evolved from my graphic art series "Wheel of the Year" in which I illustrate each pagan/wicca sabbaths connected to the movement of the Sun throughout the year and the changes going on in nature and agriculture.
YULE is the Winter solstice which is the shortest day and the longest night in the year. It's called also Yalda, Saturnalia, Karachun, Kwanzaa. There are a lot of myths around it, but basically it's the death of the old Sun and the birth of the new one.
It's also the time of looking inside and contemplating, embracing and forgiving to our dark side, and getting ready for the new light and resurrection.
I chose several symbols connected to this time of the year, like the White Goddess, the newborn, the fish, the fire of the Yule log, the sickle, Sun and Moon, mistletoe and the stag, which is also the symbol of the Horned God.
